Photography. Just us and the light. Reduced to elemental components, that's it. The camera has always been an accessory to the creative process, in that an artist can make art with any functioning camera.

Digital technology is a gift, for we now can change any parameter on the fly, and check results immediately. The hazard in that is that we can just bang away until we get something.

That's why I love the light and the studio. Starting out in darkness and painting with light, recording with the camera, making images from scratch. I'm on my own there.

The challenge of shooting dance has it's own set of solutions, shooting places has another. I love the light out there, but I really love it when I make it mine from the dark.
